Stuck in Reload Loop (SABR Request)

Watching this video and many other long(er) videos like it, I will often get stuck in a reload loop

1. Watch video for 20 minutes
2. it'll stop and reload "reloading player according to SABR request", then wait for SABR countdown
3. Start watching for another 30 seconds
4. "reloading player according to sabr request" → loop

Sometimes i'll go through a few of these loops, then after that it's fine, but in this case the video is not watchable as it reloads 30 seconds after reloading.

Also of note, this happens even whilst paused.

Didn't want to open a bug report as I'm not sure if it's a known issue, but couldn't find anything in the open issues so let me know if i need to!

FreeTube Version 0.24.0 (0.24.0), macOS 26.3.1(a)
Not using VPN, watching from Australia.

There are several issues about this. #9066 #8932
Also this isn't the right place to post bug reports.

If you want you can indeed still use version 0.23.15 until this gets fixed. It doesn't use SABR but the old DASH streams. Then disable "Check for updates" in the Settings to get rid of the nagging notification at the top. Of course, then you should check back here regularly for a new release.
