Use of company logos. #7693

Is this not enough? |
Given that at least one person has used the Stack Overflow icon inappropriately I'd say not. You would hope that it should be enough - and probably is for the more famous logos, but some people either don't understand or don't care and just think "oh, that's a good image for this option". |
Assigned to @davegandy for the next release. Any idea on how docs could be clearer? |
"Logos should only be used to represent the copyright holder" Or "[All brand icons are trademarks of their respective owners] and should not be used for any other purpose". I think the second one says it all and doesn't add too much verbiage to the page. |
Added the text "Brand icons should only be used to represent the company or product to which they refer." to 4.4.1-wip branch. Closing. |
@davegandy credit-card-alt is also listed under brand icons. Is that wanted? |
I'm going to close this one. We've had one single reported case of a brand icon being mis-used. Don't think we need to do this. |
Can you include a note on the license page - http://fontawesome.io/license/ - and on the logos section of the icons page - http://fortawesome.github.io/Font-Awesome/icons/ that they should
only be used when referring to the brand/company itself and not as general images?
Adding a note when the logo comes up in a search might be over the top.
This came about because we discovered someone using the Stack Overflow logo as an icon on their website rather than as a link to Stack Overflow itself.
The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
