About

YouTube Focus is an add-on who tries to promote a healthier browsing at youtube.com. YouTube has one billion hours whatched daily, and it's recommendation algorithm generates more than 70% of views. That means 700.000.000 hours every single day. What means that the greatest slice of time that people spend on YouTube isnt because they searched for something to whatch or something to learn, it is because they were sugested by YouTube's algorithm.

Algorithm's operation is secret, but some researshers, like Gillaume Chaslot, are claiming that the Youtube's alorithm drives people to divisive content and promotes conspirancy theory videos.

How to Install

Open Mozilla Firefox based any browser. Press '''Control + Shift + A''' to open the add-ons'(https://addons.mozilla.org) section. Type "YouTube Focus (Forked)" at the search box to find the add-on. Now it's just to click "Install".

How to Use

Once the add-on is installed, you can click in the button at the top-left corner of your browser. So, you can choose the way you want to deal with the Youtube's recommendations.

Focus Mode:

• Disable the recommended videos at the home page.
• Just allow three suggested videos at the "up next list".
• Customizable through options panel for fine-tuned control.

Brain Mode:

• Disable all the recommendations. Daring you to enable your brain.
• Complete removal of distracting elements for mindful browsing.

Study Mode: (New)

• Maximum Focus: Removes ALL unnecessary UI elements that might distract during educational content.
• Clean Interface: Hides notifications, guide sections, menu items, and secondary content.
• Expanded Layout: Utilizes full screen width for better video viewing experience.
• Educational Optimized: Perfect for online learning, tutorials, and academic content.

Default Mode:

• Enable the recommendations whenever you want.
• Standard YouTube experience with all features enabled.

Advanced Options: (New)

• Granular Control: Toggle individual elements like notifications, guide buttons, sidebar content.
• Navigation Settings: Control home page redirection and menu visibility.
• Layout Customization: Adjust video player and sidebar behavior.
• Per-Category Settings: Organize options by Home & Feed, Video Player, Sidebar, Navigation, etc.
