nit: OpenDbColumnFamilies implementation is almost the same. There is an opportunity to reduce code duplication.

Yes... but OpenDbColumnFamilies is part of the upstream, so I didn't want to modify that. Not that there seems to be any motion on the upstream anymore.

I want to try out using TTL, but the open function for databases with column families and TTL is not present
