I run a 24/7 AI agent fleet on free and open models — orchestrator, workers, QC review — using it to build and operate my own products. When a paid API isn't needed, it isn't used. That's an architectural decision, not a budget workaround: it forces clean separation between the agent layer, the data layer, and the delivery layer.
