Do the guests have to be connected to my wifi? Or can I pass an IP:port thru my router so they don't have to connect to my wifi?

You could expose that to the internet if you wanted, but I wouldn't recommend it. The safest bet would be letting them connect to your WiFi, guest VLAN with a firewall rule if you wanted them separated. You could use a reverse proxy for just that address too, whether or not your doing guest WiFi, or exposing to internet. Kinda depends on your skillset and comfort. I don't recommend exposing anything directly to the internet.

I don't mind exposing a port during a party. Eight hours of an exposed port vs having everyone on your home Wi-Fi. No thanks. I can close the port after the party. I cannot set a new Wi-Fi password on tens of home items after a party.

Some wifi allows a guest network and you can make a separate VLAN.

Alternatively, before considering opening a port I'd suggest considering Nabu Casa Cloud which supports Home Assistant, Tailscale Funnel, or Cloudflare Tunnel (the last supports authentication layers) all of which at least don't expose your local network directly.
