It would be nice if the app doesn't need to be updated manually by committing the KML files. One option could be to query the ftp site and download any found KML files. Then filter the KML files to get rid of simulations and basin tests (maybe by file size? Number of discrete points?).

I have a version of this working now in the live branch, using the ssh package to handle file transfers instead of ftp. Using ssh is better (obviously) because you can run ssh commands to get file metadata on the remote, but it requires configuring your ssh keys for the remote server (the Dal dfoftp server).

I'll test for awhile on the live branch before merging (if it is decided to move to this version).
