Update to OS and/or Kernel?

The version of the Linux kernel (6.1.15) on the Ubuntu 23.10 image for the laptop is affected by a bug which prevents the Rust compiler from working: rust-lang/rust#127180, possibly https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-kernel-tests/+bug/2042388.

When might there be an OS update for the DC-ROMA II?

This laptop is based on the same processor as the Milk-V Jupiter, who have posted how to update kernel here. Note that this does not include properly updating the DTBs (DeviceTree Binaries), which they do by adding
zz-flash-dtbs-postinst.txt and
zz-flash-dtbs-postrm.txt
scripts into /etc/kernel/postinst.d and /etc/kernel/postrm.d respectively.

Also note that this does not fully work properly at time of writing, resulting in a kernel panic which I have attempted to start documenting here.

I've downloaded, unzipped, and flashed the new image. When booting the laptop with the card inserted, it's just a blank screen. balenaEtcher reported "flash complete", and I did this twice with the same result. Where did I make a mistake?

Also, is there an apt repo list which can be used instead of having to flash some image?

Then it boots back into Ubuntu 23.10, which it came with. Also, when I insert the flash card into the running system, it's not able to mount the flash card. fdisk -l says it's partition is /dev/mmcblk0p1 yet only /dev/mmcblk0 exists. dmesg reports errors when the flash card is inserted:

What I'm trying to convey is that this isn't working for me. So I was asking if there's a way to update with a fresh Ubuntu image that isn't an updater, or if you would share the changed deb links in /etc/apt/sources.list so I can attempt an update manually.

For some reason, my Roma-II will not boot from the provided updater image. It just has a blank screen. Also, my Linux machines can't mount the disk image that's written to the flash card, making me skeptical of this process.
