Status: Negative result (scoped negative result / research note). This is a finite certificate in a declared scalar projection. It is not a native obstruction, not a formal proof and not a new kappa. The selected frontier is unchanged.

Summary

This addresses open question 2 of PR2048 (pairs whose centre sources depend on each other in time). PR1918's common-frame scalar projection is extended from one disjoint-data forward pair to all 144 selected local_cover_sweep calls (80 forward, 64 backward). The calls run in execution_schedule order from a formal vector over the 14,336 physical owners. Only the calls run. Bridge, idle_cover_sweep, terminal, padding and translate events are not executed; the number of them between the two calls of each dependent pair is counted.

New package: research/selected-centre-chrono-source-census/ (verify.py, RESULT.json, README, TASK.json, SOURCES.json, VERIFY.json). No other files are changed.

Results, all in this projection:

  1. Global formal rank 1152/1152, exact over Q and also mod 2^61-1 (forward 640, backward 512). No centre-source row is a linear combination of other calls' rows. This statement covers the formal rows only. It does not give PR1918's lemma bound (d >= rank) for groupings of calls. That bound would need a fixed-dirt, source-only output-increment rank on separate output panels, and this package computes neither. Some centre-scatter panels overlap.
  2. All 1,539 dependent pairs have rank 16. The pairs are those that share roles 0..111 owners (96), pass a write to a later read (the same 96), or share formal support (1,525). Each has rank 16 formally and again when restricted to its own roles 0..223 owners. No deficient pair exists.
  3. PR1918's roles 0..111 column restriction does not hold up for dependent pairs. On that restriction, 671 of 1,539 pairs fall below 16: all 96 shared-data pairs (six classes, rank 8 each), and 51 pairs at rank 0. For backward calls, roles 0..111 are the block the call writes, not source data. For the 16 same-block f0->b1 pairs, the verifier certifies backward1 centre k |_D = (1/4) forward0 centre k |_D with exact kernel witnesses. It also certifies that zeroing only the target block keeps rank 16, because forward0 also reads helper roles. So this identity is not a reuse lead on its own.
  4. Two diagnostics fall outside the template semantics. Zeroing owners first touched as helpers drops the global rank to 570; zeroing owners not first touched in roles 0..111 drops it to 418. The full-rank result therefore depends on owner contents that the omitted events change.

Reproduce

Base commit 0fdd7d82de03e43c9e5a1000dfbcd380d1b687d2. Standard library only, about 30 s and under 200 MB of RSS. Verified under Python 3.14.4 only. The package hook declares Python 3.12 and was not run, because 3.12 was unavailable.

python3 -I -B research/selected-centre-chrono-source-census/verify.py

Expected output:

Other checks: scripts/research_package.py --check-only gives PASS_PACKAGE_METADATA_AND_PINS, and unittest discover -s tests -p 'test_research_*.py' passes (65 tests, OK, skipped=2).

Certificates and negative controls

Internal controls, run on every verification:

  • PR1918's 16 source maps, rank 16 and roles 0..111 rank 16 are reproduced exactly.
  • Duplicated rows give rank 8, and reversed-order rows give rank 8.
  • The forward centre copies equal word.centers = [92,57,81,224,11,240,9,256].
  • A perturbed backward coefficient changes the program binding and changes or rejects the local map.
  • Omitting one backward centre gather changes the centre input.
  • Omitting the final private clear is rejected as a dirty exit.
  • A one-bit flip changes the archive and member hashes. This is a hash-sensitivity check only.

External controls, run in scratch copies. Each was rejected as required:

  • Tampered global_rank_q: result receipt differs.
  • Tampered kernel-witness coefficient: result receipt differs.
  • Tampered new target-zeroed rank field: result receipt differs.
  • Flipped archive byte: pin mismatch.
  • Edited PR1918 receipt: pin mismatch.

Independent reviewer replay, separate code using prime 2^31-1 and a different pivot order. It reproduced the global rank 1152, both endpoint transvections and the 1/4 identity. A semantic input mutation, swapping two owners in the last backward call with the archive re-pinned, was caught by the receipt check.

Scope, inherited assumptions, unresolved obligations

Inherited from PR1918:

  • clear, copy, scale and add are exact over Q;
  • climb, adapter and residual_adapter act as the identity;
  • the center event is the read cut;
  • owners hold independent formal initial values.

Not executed: bridges (144), idle cover sweeps (160), terminal events, padding and translate. The native schedule is not a specialization of these formal variables, so the full-rank statements could fail natively, and the deficient restricted statistics could be higher or lower natively.

Still open:

  • an owner-level replay of the bridge and idle events;
  • the fixed-dirt source-only rank and panel separation that any grouping bound needs;
  • a native 512-address lift (PR2048-style) of the D-block identity;
  • a full storage, transport, restoration, hosting and precision invoice for any reuse.

No kappa follows from any outcome.

Search record

  • Domain: all 144 calls and 1,152 rows. All C(144,2) pairs were screened for the three dependency classes, giving 1,539 dependent pairs.
  • Ranking: each dependent pair was ranked exactly over Q under five variants, plus a target-zeroed variant for f0->b1.
  • Seed: sprint seed 50 chose the track only; the census itself has no randomness.
  • Stopping rule: complete coverage, about 30 s, so no stop rule fired.
  • Pair loop: the same-orientation pair loop was not needed, because full global rank implies full rank for every subset of rows.

"No deficient pair" holds in this projection only. It is not an impossibility theorem.

Answers PR2048 open question 2 within PR1918's common-frame scalar projection.
The verifier replays all 144 selected local_cover_sweep calls (80 forward,
64 backward) in execution_schedule order from a formal owner vector. Bridge,
idle, terminal, padding and translate events are not executed; the bridge and
idle events between the two calls of each dependent pair are counted.

- Global centre-source rank is 1152/1152, exact over Q and mod 2^61-1.
- All 1,539 shared-source or write-to-read dependent pairs have rank 16.
- On PR1918's own data-only statistic, the 16 same-block forward0->backward1
  pairs have rank 8. Exact identity: the D-part of backward centre k is 1/4 of
  the D-part of forward centre k, so rank 16 rests on the target-block
  contents.
- Sensitivity diagnostics show the full rank depends on owner contents that
  the calls-only projection does not model.

This is a finite certificate in a declared projection: a research note and
scoped negative result. No kappa is claimed. It reimplements the PR1918
replay (Adam Gall) with credit.

The new layout cuts RESULT.json from 25,571 to 1,748 lines. The content is
unchanged and was checked by JSON equality. The verifier still compares the
receipt as parsed JSON.

Report the full roles 0..111 restriction histogram (671 of 1,539 dependent
pairs below 16, all 96 shared-data pairs at 8) and label it as a column
restriction, not source data, for backward calls. Certify that zeroing only
the target block keeps the forward0->backward1 pairs at rank 16, and drop
the claim that their rank rests entirely on the target block. Stop applying
PR1918's lemma to groupings, fix the native-schedule rank remark, rename the
pin hash-sensitivity control, disclose the unrun Python 3.12 hook, and
complete predecessor credit.

CLAIM / bounded follow-up to Q2: I am checking whether1152 independently injected scalar centre-transport output errors can cancel after all selected local continuations, all144bridge paired shears, and16signed terminal exchanges. This retains the declared identity projection for frame/idle/translation operations; it is not a native tariff. Initial exact experiments give final ordinary-owner response rank1152 over Q and an odd prime, with backward errors exposing helper-restoration outputs. I will provide complete source binding, independent literal schedule probes and controls, or retire the result if those fail. DONE: #2622 at 4ffb893a08e8868057a30a065642d0b5f647f742 answers a bounded final-output-quotient question: the complete projected ordinary-owner response to all 1,152 independently injected centre-output errors has full rank 1,152. All 144 paired bridges, 16 signed terminal exchanges and local continuations execute. Exact Q and independent modular elimination, an output minor, two literal full-schedule probes and export/tampering controls pass. The README keeps frame/idle/translation identities explicit; this is neither a native tariff nor a general transcript lower bound. PR2199 and the selected lineage retain attribution.
