Installation

Prerequisites

1. Before proceeding with the installation of the SDK and MSIX application, ensure that Developer Mode is enabled on your Windows machine. This is required to allow sideloading and debugging of applications.
2. To ensure reliable Bluetooth connectivity and optimal range, we recommend using a Bluetooth dongle. These are the Bluetooth dongles recommended and tested by Credence ID. They have been verified for compatibility and performance with our solutions. Mini BT540 Mini BT542

🧰 Enable Developer Mode

On Windows 10

1. Open Settings:

   • Press Win + I or click the Start menu and select Settings.

2. Go to Update & Security:

   • Click on Update & Security.

3. Open For Developers:

   • In the left pane, click For developers.

4. Enable Developer Mode:

   • Under "Use developer features", select Developer mode.
   • Click Yes when prompted to confirm.

On Windows 11

1. Open Settings:

   • Press Win + I or click Start > Settings.

2. Navigate to Privacy & Security:

   • In the left menu, click Privacy & security.

3. Select For Developers:

   • Scroll down and click For developers under the "Security" section.

4. Turn on Developer Mode:

   • Toggle the Developer Mode switch to On.
   • Confirm when prompted.

⚠️ Enabling Developer Mode allows your device to install apps from any source and is necessary for development and testing purposes.

Installation

1. Connect Your Dongle via Bluetooth
   • Ensure your Bluetooth dongle is properly connected to your computer.

2. Download the Tap2IdWinSDK Installer Tap2iD-Installer

3. Launch the Tap2IdWinSDK Installer

   • Double click on the installer to begin the installation process.
   • Click on "More info"

• Click on "Run anyway" and "Yes"

• Do not change the file location and Click on "Next" button

• Click on "Install"

• Wait till Python installation is complete

3. Select Bluetooth Device for MDL Transaction

   • When prompted, choose the Bluetooth device you want to use for the MDL transaction. Enter 1 and press Enter.

   

4. Complete Installation

   • The installer will proceed with the installation of the necessary drivers and the Tap2IDSample application. The application should start automatically once the installation is complete.

   

5. Troubleshooting

   • If prompted, install .NET to proceed.
   • If you encounter any errors during the installation process, please contact Credence ID support and provide them with the log file Tap2ID.log, which is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Tap2IdWinSDKInstaller.
