Install ABAQUS on the system

Steps for getting it initially installed:

• Copy installer onto isaac
• Copy it to /opt/Abaqus, unzip it, chmod 777, etc.
• (sort of) Follow: https://github.com/imirzov/Install-Abaqus-2019-on-Ubuntu-18.04-LTS
  • Requires relinking sh to bash, rather than dash (latest scripts have an sh shebang but Debian uses dash for sh)
  • Run StartGUI.sh
  • Install whatever to /opt
• Edit /opt/SIMULIA/EstProducts/2022/linux_a64/SMA/site/EstablishedProductsConfig.ini
• Add licensing information:

• Install Intel OneAPI fortran compiler (gfortran doesn't work)

Anaconda's MPI install interrupts ABAQUS's usage of MPI, though :<

The next problem is that the verify all command will fail on the parallelization step

It's because the validation suite does bs like hosting a server on the node (as an mpi worker?) and then connecting to the server via its network (not loopback) ip address, which then gets cockblocked by the firewall and deadlocks the test.

it isn't the firewall, the command is running:

Which looks like a bizzare interaction with the hostname workaround of Debian:

The fix for that was to remove the loopback hack:

Installed hotfix by:

• Logging in via VNC as root (required for permissions + virtual desktop)
• Ensuring DSY is exported correctly: export DSYAuthOS_lsb_release -si=1 DSY_Force_OS=linux_a64
• Run StartGUI.sh in Software... etc.
