Nodes 2.0: Switching between workflows causes some nodes to shrink vertically

Prerequisites

• I am running the latest version of ComfyUI
• I have searched existing issues to make sure this isn't a duplicate
• I have tested with all custom nodes disabled (see how)

What happened?

When switching between opened workflows, some nodes will slightly decrease in height until they reach their minimal size. So far I've noticed it happening with the "Load Checkpoint", "KSampler", "Save Image" and "CLIP Text Encode" nodes.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Make sure Nodes 2.0 is enabled
2. Simply add one of the aforementioned nodes to a new workflow, or open an existing workflow with those nodes
3. Create a new workflow (or open an existing one)
4. Switch between the workflows, watch the nodes shrink on every switch

This is a clear bug report - thanks for the detailed repro steps and version bisection (works in 1.36.0, broken in 1.36.13).

Are you still experiencing this on the current version? The Nodes 2.0 layout system has had several fixes since then.

After a quick test, it still happens on 1.37.11 (the current version listed on the requirements file from Comfy-Org/ComfyUI. Just to be sure, I'll also do a clean installation, test that version again, and also test the newest published frontend Python package.

After a full reinstall (cloning ComfyUI, default user setings, no extensions), it still happens on 1.39.4

Thank you for reporting this node shrinking issue. You mentioned it started after v1.36.0.

Could you verify if this is still reproducible on v1.39.4? There have been significant layout and sizing fixes for Nodes 2.0 since v1.36.13. If it persists, a short screen recording showing the shrinking behavior would be extremely helpful for diagnosing the issue.

I upgraded to 1.39.5 this time. Still reproducible, although, on the second workflow where I only added a "Load VAE" node, it took more switches to shrink down to the minimum size.

ComfyUI installation notes

I don't know if it matters, but I used Astral's uv package manager for speed.

I launched the server with:
python main.py --listen "0.0.0.0" --port 8188 --input-directory ../inputs --output-directory ../outputs --extra-model-paths-config ../extra_model_paths.yaml --highvram --fast cublas_ops fp16_accumulation fp8_matrix_mult

Then I enabled Nodes 2.0, and recorded that video.
