1.32.0 "new look" is messing up old workflows

Hi, I highly appreciate the work of the frontend team. I just installed minutes ago version 1.32.0 and I clicked "try now" on my current working workflow. I was sorry instantly. I'm not commenting about the look, it seems nice and I appreciate the refresh in visual appearance. My complain is about the change in dimensions that makes the nodes in an existing workflow to overlap and the result is total chaos.

I'm not a developer and I can't propose a solution. I like the new look and probably I will use it in the future but right now I have to chose between reverting to the old look and continue work with my current work flow or spend an unpredictable amount of time moving nodes, realigning and cleaning up the workflow. And doing it again and again with my every other existing workflow that I might need. Maybe it would be nice something I wished to exist for a long time, a function / button that would automatically arrange, align vertically and horizontally and put a padding / distance between all the nodes in the workflow so it would create instant order (of course maybe the result would not be perfectly aligned with the user expectations but at least it would create a starting point to tinker further instead of moving each node manually until the end of eternity).

Hi @jovan2009! I'm Dosu and I’m helping the ComfyUI_frontend team.

The new UI in version 1.32.0 introduced larger, non-uniform node sizes, which caused existing workflows to have overlapping nodes. To address this, an automatic node scaling and arrangement feature was added: when you open a workflow in the new Vue nodes mode, the system now runs an auto-scale/node arrange function by default to spread out nodes and reduce overlap, preserving the overall layout as much as possible. This feature is controlled by the setting Comfy.VueNodes.AutoScaleLayout, which is enabled by default as of the latest update PR #6467 PR #6212.

If you still see overlapping nodes, check your settings for AutoScaleLayout and make sure it's enabled. There isn't a dedicated "auto-arrange" button yet, but this scaling fix should help restore order to most workflows. The team is aware of user requests for more advanced auto-layout and alignment tools, and these may be considered for future updates feature discussion.

Nice, AutoScaleLayout kind of does the trick, in part. I still have some overlapping nodes but the situation is much better. An AutoPadding would be nice too in future iterations. A trigger button would be useful to apply the auto scale, I had to close and reopen the workflow for autoscale to actually happen. Also I would enable Auto scale by default if the user clicks "try now", otherwise you would have an endless number of users baffled by the chaos in their workflow not knowing how to make it better (just like me).

And how about this? In the original workflow I had the option to choose "fixed" or "randomize" after generation for the noise generator seed. That option is missing now. Interestingly enough it shows something akin to that at the node bellow it, where I choose the sampler, but it's an empty text field in which I would have no idea what to type exactly if I would like to randomize that.

Yeah, I am not against the new developments, just right now the situation is that the new look is not ready yet for prime time. The new size + overlapping nodes issue aside, it still has missing fields for existing nodes that makes it not ready yet for production environment.

Yeah, I'm also just testing to give feedback. I'm not using them fully right now.

Latest Chrome on Windows 11 25H2. Only "special" thing about it is that a while ago I disabled in it's settings GPU acceleration attempting to minimize VRAM usage outside ComfyUI processing. And the only extension still active on the browser in general is uBlock Origin Lite but it's disabled (or so I have set it to be) on 127.0.0.1 IP address (server's default).

Edit:
I forgot to mention that the ComfyUI frontend is installed as application, whatever that might imply beside having an icon of it on desktop. Also before starting testing I deleted it's cache / cookies using Chrome way to do that, clicking on the trash can in this screen and then refreshing the page:

There is an user setting, to enable / disable the Vue nodes.

But you can also add a keybind, to do that.
