[Question] on permissions

What is/are your question(s)?

First, thanks for making this app available – and for even listing the permissions and what they are used for on the Readme! However, a few are missing there. I'd especially like to know what android.permission.REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES is used for, in the withInternet flavor. Also missing but clear: location permissions are most likely related to weather data retrieval, right?

The withInternet variant will go live at https://apt.izzysoft.de/packages/app.easy.launcher within the next hour (you might then wish to link there from e.g. your Readme, or pick a badge for that). Hey Izzy, the withInternet is the one with a weather widget that requires Internet to work the other build has that widget disabled.

That permission does nothing now. It use to have a auto update feature where the launcher would install itself when a new release was made on GitHub after asking the user if they want to update. But it was buggy so I removed it but that permission was forgotten about.

Yupp, that much is clear. I took the freedom to override the app name here, appending "Internet Edition" to it – so it's clear the version we ship at IzzyOnDroid differs from the one F-Droid ships.

That permission does nothing now.

Ah, I see. Good you removed the updater, that might have collided with the inclusion policy at both, F-Droid and IzzyOnDroid. So will you remove that permission as well then? Might confuse people otherwise, as it could be read as "might install all kind of apps without asking me",

As pointed out above, EasyLauncher is meanwhile live at IzzyOnDroid – so you might wish to expand the list of badges in your Readme by adding ours, as outlined above 🤗 The RB shield should also become available any minute now (hopefully; I wonder why it is not available yet).
