No wheel available for MacOS M2

Hi there! At Polars, we use this CodSpeed plugin and some of our developers work on MacOS with M-series processors.

Since version 3.1.0 of this plugin, it can no longer be installed on MacOS. Could you add a wheel for MacOS?
We'll be pinning to 3.0.0 for now on our dev environment.

Hi, on Mac/Darwin, there is no need to build the native extension(since CPU instrumentation is not enabled on that platform yet), so there is no need for a wheel yet, and the sdist should be enough.

Could you let me know if you are installing the package with a specific option?
I tried on an M1 Mac, and the installation worked with uv. During the build, the following message is shown:

CodSpeed native extension is optional

Which means there is no real need to build anything natively.

If you have some error logs don't hesitate it will help me understand.

Thanks a lot. I think we need to publish py3-none-any wheels for this to work. I thought having the sdist would have been enough but definitely this is needed.

On a side note, what made you use --no-build to install the packages?

@art049 It's a bit silly, but we don't know. It was added in a contributor PR and slipped through review. We'll probably get rid of it again.

@art049 It was probably the lack of --prefer-binary that some (usually Windows) users feel is lacking in uv that will prefer an older version library with a wheel over a newer version that require compilation. Relevant open issue on uv: astral-sh/uv#1794.

Definitely make sense to use it to replicate --prefer-binary, I was just curious why you wanted it.
I just added the extra needed wheel in the latest v3.1.1 version :)
