[MoM] Introduce a way to measure your psionic potential #78205
Description
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
As of #76004, all characters without the Headblind or Latent Psion traits are effectively assigned a sort of "psionic potential" ranking from 1 to 9, with Latent Psion being a 0 and Headblind a n/a. This rating essentially determines your chances of learning psionics at all, and especially of picking up more than one path.
It's a cool concept, but it's slightly annoying to not know where one that ranking you are. If I fail five awakening rolls in a row, did I just get bad luck and need to keep trying, or am I better off investing energy elsewhere because I have an 8 and need an average of 50+ crystals?
Solution you would like.
I thought of two decent solutions. Either or both would work.
Solution 1: When you fail an awakening roll, give a vague hint message of where the player is on the path count. It could be as fuzzy as three (1-3,4-6,7-9) or even just two (1-4,5-9) bands, something like "you almost had it" vs. "not this time" vs. "it feels almost impossible".
Solution 2: Some kind of PHAVIAN test that's a bit more accurate. I'd probably default to a Greek letter system, catgorizing Latent Psion as Alpha, 1 as Beta, 2-3 Gamma, 4-6 Delta, 7-9 Epsilon. This probably ought to rate you based on your initial roll rather than the current value, sinceit wouldbe pretty silly if a Latent Psion stumbles on one of these tests after already unlocking five paths and gets told they're a scrub-tier Delta psyker.
Describe alternatives you have considered.
Just leave it. Psionic powers are supposed to be a bit weird and mysterious, so it wouldn be on brand to not explain this too deeply, but I feel like the player should get at least some hint of where they stand on he power scale.
