Run independent work concurrently using the new GitHub Actions step syntax.

  • Run website formatting, linting and Chromium installation in a parallel group before generating assets and building.
  • Upload test results and coverage in parallel in both PR CI and main branch coverage jobs.
  • Install Chromium with background: true during website deployment preparation, then explicitly wait before the build, which uses Chromium to render Mermaid diagrams.
  • Run website tests when ci.yml changes so workflow edits exercise this job.

In a recent successful CI run, Chromium installation took 32 seconds, formatting 22 seconds and linting 29 seconds sequentially. This removes roughly 51 seconds of sequential work from that group before accounting for resource contention. Artifact uploads also overlap across the test matrix. All existing commands, pinned actions, artifact names, conditions and test failure handling are retained.

Validation: YAML parsing, synchronization and command preservation checks passed. actionlint v1.7.12 passed on equivalent sequential workflows; it does not yet recognize the new concurrency keywords. In the PR CI run, the three website preparation steps started together and completed successfully in a 42-second group. The GreenDonut.Tests test result and coverage uploads also started together and both succeeded. The website build started only after the group completed. Deployment and main branch coverage changes require their next normal run for execution validation.
