I kind of assumed going to a random planet and not plopping down a travelnet was basically just hopping to a temporary dimension that you could wreck without permanent memory consequence. But if each of them is persistent, that could really build up over time and clog a server with stuff that'll go unused forever. I don't know, maybe it's not a big deal, but it just feels like it would be a good sort of roguelike option for extending the gameplay if we didn't have to worry about savegame bloat while exploring.
