Short/medium-term project (ongoing)
Description
The work is to support the NCI U24 Bioconductor project. The components include:
- Bioconductor software package development and maintenance (particularly Sean's; GEOquery, for example)
- Potential for website development to promote project activities (no existing cancer bioconductor website)
- Data engineering tasks around biomedical data and metadata availability (like SRAdb, GEOmetadb) including omicidx
- Teaching and community engagement as interested.
- Possibility of developing Orchestra, kubernetes-based cloud training platform.
- Impact of Bioconductor via dashboards of citations, software downloads, build reports, dependency graphs, etc.

Workflow
Github with varying levels of CI/CD, documentation, and integration with Bioconductor build system. Some community contribution, but not a lot. We have a team of folks who meet regularly (at least once a month). Opportunities for travel and engagement with the tens of thousands of bioconductor developers.
Timeline
We are currently moving into year 2 of funding. The project has been running for 20 years already, so there are a lot of moving parts. I'd like to start onboarding folks ASAP pending availability of FTE with the goal of defining overlapping skillsets and interests. Could be R, python, data engineering, cloud, web development, package development, dashboarding.
Funding
We have funding for a full FTE (likely partial on more than one person) if that is feasible (but that could be split over people and could change based on availability and interest).
