Flexbox properties trigger “Use known properties” warning

Using flexbox properties brings up the warning, “Require use of known properties”. Flexbox is now an official layout method.

To clarify you mean
display:-webkit-box;
display:-moz-box;
display:-ms-flexbox;<----- or were you referring to the older browser versions.
display:-webkit-flex;
display:flex;

Since any browser that accepts "-webkit-flex" also accepts "flex" you can simply remove the "flex" because CSS will have to evaluate and pick a winner anyway. Currently "-webkit-flex" is foreseeably forward compatible as well as backward compatible. So this should not, like most other flex properties, be a problem and avoided anyway.

That is not what I mean. In fact, I have no idea what you mean at all. Using the W3C standard is preferable over vendor-specific properties.

But that's beside the point. Both display: -webkit-flex and display: flex are known properties, especially since the linter recognizes older, unsupported syntaxes like -ms-flexbox and -webkit-box.

The error I'm referring to:
Require use of known properties

Expected (inline | block | list-item | inline-block | table | inline-table | table-row-group | table-header-group | table-footer-group | table-row | table-column-group | table-column | table-cell | table-caption | box | inline-box | grid | inline-grid | none | inherit | -moz-box | -moz-inline-block | -moz-inline-box | -moz-inline-grid | -moz-inline-stack | -moz-inline-table | -moz-grid | -moz-grid-group | -moz-grid-line | -moz-groupbox | -moz-deck | -moz-popup | -moz-stack | -moz-marker | -webkit-box | -webkit-inline-box) but found 'flex'.

Seems like the parser lib adds support for display: flex. there is a new version available, that might fix this. ref #563

The website http://csslint.net/ still reports "require use of known properties" when it encounters a line like the following:

  flex: 1;

Is this expected behavior?

Are there plans to do the new release of CSSLint to incorporate the update in parserlib version #563 in the CSSLint? The last release of CSSLint was done two years ago.

On the project where we are using CSSLint flex property is used in CSS, and we stay between dilemma either to switch off "known-properties" check or allow false positives for warning for flex properties. Having a new release would have solved this problem
