I think the only unclear part of your proposal is how you define database :)
The premise is interesting and has a considerable amount of flexibility in the ultimate length of the final project. Be sure to make the most of it!
While it is fairly straightforward to imagine where you will implement loops and conditionals, an update detailing a specific, non-trivial example of your usage of arrays/strings and structures would be nice.
