Support for FMI Layered Standard (FMI-LS-BUS)

I noticed that FMPy currently supports FMI 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0, but I couldn’t find any mention of the FMI-LS-BUS extension for communication buses.
Does FMPy plan to support FMI-LS-BUS or any layered standards in the near future?
If not yet supported, is there a recommended approach for extending FMPy to handle LS-BUS metadata and binary payloads?

There is current work toward FMI-LS-BUS simulation using fmpy going on here by @nl78 here: grouperenault/fmu_manipulation_toolbox#28
