Sort order flips when using interaction(panzoom:x)

I have a bar chart sorted descending, and I have interaction(panzoom:x) turned on. When I zoom in, the sort order flips to ascending.

A workaround is available -- start with it inverted and immediately zoom to flip it.
It's still a defect that needs fixing, but not as urgently.
