DVR scan stops responding once I try and start the scan

A few weeks ago I was using the older version of dvr scan with the batch file. However now I recently wanted to try using the updated version, but whenevr I try to start scanning nothing happens and the small window says not responding. How can I fix this?

In Windows explorer, could you go to the C:/Users/%USERNAME%/AppData/Local/DVR-Scan/Logs folder, and upload the file called dvr-scan-app.log? That should include debug information that may indicate what the issue is. Thanks!

Edit: Also just to clarify, this only happens with the new application, correct? (The batch file thing should still work.)

Yes the batch file works still, here is the logs. I believe that the older version also has a log so I'm not sure which is which. I looked into the log and saw it was showing some results from the batch file I think. I used the software at 1030pm but the 8pm I was using the older version.

There is a definitely an issue in the new app I need to fix ASAP. You can track progress on that in #209, it should be fixed within a day or two. Thank you so much for providing the logs, that was incredibly helpful.

ok it seems to work now, but I was wondering when I get these errors how do I know which video file had the problem? It said progress 23 percent before the error so I thought it was one of the first few vids I scanned

If you set verbosity = debug in your config file, you should see End of current video, loading next: followed by the path of the next video each time DVR-Scan moves to the next one.

Did I perhaps do this wrong? After starting the scan it did start however I saw it said issue 198 incorrect meter format : 00:00 , 62:47:19, 5.94, frames/s. I've never seen this before until I edited the config file in C:\Users\eremi\AppData\Local\DVR-Scan. Does this mean I should restart the entire scan? it doesn't seem to be telling me which videos are loaded

Hmm sorry they should show up there, I will look into why they do not. You should still be able to see it if you look at the DVR-Scan logfiles. Could you upload one for me to double check? Thanks!

Edit: It seems in your config file you still have the # character in front of the setting. You need to remove that, i.e. it should be:

verbosity = debug

In any case, you can probably see what video it was from the logs. Let me know if this helps!

Here is the log, however it seems it didn't show all the videos were loaded I think because I had more video files than that

Also I did try another scan with different videos, I think the debug is working now but looking it only tells me when one video is opened and the rest it just says appending,

so if an error occured it would be hard to pinpoint which video had the error if I scan multiple at a time.

Look for the log messages that start with End of current video, loading next: and it will say the name of the video it is starting to process at that point. Any errors you see after that line can likely be attributed to whatever video that is.
