When a user asks an agent to work on an issue, or the agent creates an issue for this thread, the runtime now tells the agent to link it to the current thread before starting work or immediately after creation. One short
issue_linkingblock is shared across Codex, Claude, Cursor, ACP, OpenCode, and Pi. It appears only when the session has issue-link tools. Claude's read-only sandbox omits it.This layer builds on
read_issue, above the original issue tracking PR. Its diff covers the instruction and provider integration only. The updated rule passed 29 focused tests, including Pi and all shared provider names. Verified with scoped server type checks, lint, and a clean diff check. The image shows the rendered shared instruction and the tool-availability cases. ACP's mock protocol test passed with reviewed subprocess access because the managed sandbox dropped child stdout.
This is agent guidance. Linking still depends on the agent calling
link_issue, and failures remain visible.The created-issue rule builds on @TonybynMp4’s #100.
