Bug Report: AxOS Installer Fails Missing locale.gen and grub-mkconfig

During the installation of AxOS, I encounter consistent errors related to locale.gen and grub-mkconfig. The installer fails to complete successfully. I’ve retried multiple times with the same result.

Steps that I follow

1. Boot from the AxOS ISO on real hardware (HP Laptop).

2. Go through the installer normally.

3. At the installation step, the process stops with the following errors.

Expected behavior
AxOS should proceed with installation and correctly set up locale and GRUB config files.

AxOS Version: latest version

Install Method: Live ISO

Target Device: HP laptop

Architecture: x86_64

Disk setup: Auto partitioning

The log is not complete, you sent it while the installation is happening. Wait for the error before sending the log

I follow the on boarding and proceed but the error comes in and stuck for long time and I stop the installation

You can try to add the locale manually, as Known Issues describes:

To fix this, edit /etc/locale.gen and uncomment the locale that you want. Then, run locale-gen in a terminal to install locale that you want.

I remember having lots of issues with my locale selection but this fixed it for me. Just don't forget to close the installer before.

This is happening during the installation process, not onboarding, so the known issues doesn't apply here. What I suspect is an error network. The installation of some packages fails in a earlier step, so it can't find some executables (grub) and some files (locales).

This is a network error. The package installation fails and the error handler didn't see it. Fixed in AxOS-project/axinstall@2e9bbb6

The fix will be available for the next release, early august.
