Subscription Gifting: Unable to gift only one subscription and remove another one #88109

Open

Description

Quick summary

When gifting subscriptions to a website owner, the Checkout page displays the currently active subscriptions the website has. In this case, for example, the Creator plan and the domain name:

On each subscription, though, you can see "Remove from cart" link, indicating that the subscription can be removed and the gifter can opt to gift a subscription they prefer.

What happened was, when clicking "Remove from cart" on one of the subscriptions, it will remove both subscriptions.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start at the website that has gifting feature active. I'm using my test site: corianderpho.blog.
  2. Click the "Gift" button.
  3. See the checkout page.
  4. See the currently active subscriptions listed on the page.
  5. Click "Remove from cart" link on one of the subscriptions (for example, the Creator plan,) so you can gift only the domain name renewal.
  6. Notice the pop-up warning: "When you press Continue, all gift products in the cart will be removed, and your gift will not be given."
  7. Click "Continue".
  8. The page reloads to a WordPress.com login page.

What you expected to happen

For the gifter to be able to remove subscriptions they don't want to gift and proceed with the gift of their choice.

What actually happened

Notice the pop-up warning: "When you press Continue, all gift products in the cart will be removed, and your gift will not be given."
