Quick summary
WordPress.com blogs offer a feature to notify authors immediately if someone likes their post. It's been reported that with this setting enabled, a single user unliking and reliking a post multiple times will deliver multiple notification emails. I was able to reproduce this issue.
Steps to reproduce
- Start a WordPress.com blog.
- Enable immediate notifications for new likes.
- With a separate WordPress.com account, like one of the posts.
- Verify that an email is immediately delivered for the new like.
- Unlike the post, then like it again.
- Verify that another email is delivered for the duplicate like.
What you expected to happen
If a user unlikes and then relikes a post, another email should not be delivered.
What actually happened
When a user unlikes and then relikes a post, another email is delivered.
