Updates to the Contextual Help Tab #68006

Open

Description

Quick summary

There is a contextual help tab in the classic view of WP Admin sites, with out-of-date information. We should consider reviewing and optimizing this area.

Steps to reproduce

  1. On a simple site, visit a dashboard page that has a wp-admin equivalent, such as Pages, Posts, or Comments.
  2. Click on View in the top right corner, and select 'Classic View'.
  3. Click on the Help tab at the very top
  4. Click on 'Get Help'

What you expected to happen

I expected to see useful information relevant to my WordPress.com site.

What actually happened

  • The text "Check out Learn WordPress, chock full..." links to http://learn.wordpress.com, however this resource is not maintained and is out of date. It would make more sense to link to wordpress.com/support.
  • If you click on a category like 'General', it includes some random irrelevant links, like Thanks for your feedback
  • If you click on a category like General, there is a link to Tutorials and How-to Videos that leads to this site where the most recent video is from the year 2012: http://wordpress.tv/flavor/wordpresscom/
  • If you click on many other categories, like 'Following' it just loads a blank screen without even a back button to go back to the main categories list.
