Review the typings in the tour-kit package.
Why
One thing that stands out is the arbitrariness of the step meta field. We purposefully kept this an open signature to not restrict usage. How best a consumer of the package can define their own structure for meta and avoid casting (e.g. step[ ... ].meta.description as string in index.stories).
Update the example stories / sample code in README.
