Activity Log: improve redundant messaging and upsells #45906

Open

Description

Let's take a look at the activity log on a free site:

image

  • There's the page title and description which set some context for what you're seeing.
  • Then there's something callled activity-log-banner__intro which is similar to a promoCard but not quite that describes the nature of the activity log and gives you info about upgrading.
  • Then you get 20 preview events.
  • Then a nudge which has very redundant content to the intro banner. For some folks there will be 20 events and the nudge will be 'below the fold', but for many there will only be a couple of events and they'll mostly see redundant, but visually different upsells.

Instead, what if we try an experience with perhaps a banner that was fixed to the bottom of the screen and let you scroll through the activity above, or something else which could de-duplicate the redundant stuff and use a single upsell pattern?

cc @anneforbush for thoughts generally on improving the upsell experience on paid/gated features/pages.
