mongoose 5.11.x not compatible with mongoose-plugin-autoinc

upgraded to 5.11.x and started getting this issue when using mongoose-plugin-autoinc together with mongoose 5.11.x

wondering if any code change can be placed on mongoose side to get this working again ?
