The
--add-host=host.docker.internal:host-gateway
has to be set when using a Docker-Version below 18.03 and hosting the MC-Server on the docker-host itself via official server files. When running a server inside a container this env can be ignored, but it also does not limit the functionality. The value
host.docker.internal
can be set even if the Docker version is 18.03+ without issues. This edit is just for clarification if someone is fairly new to using docker.
