- install pnpm it is an npm compatible package manager and actually is better made. Then use pnpm to install n. N will manage node installations for you
 - add the following to bashrc or profile or whatever weirdness your distro requires to install managed nodes in userspace.
 export N_PREFIX=$HOME/.nto set it as new global n install prefixexport PATH=$N_PREFIX/bin:$PATHmake the path available to bash
There is a dead node / npm installation somewhere in OS managed folders. I suggest that you leave them alone. If dependency management fails you can use them to bootstrap again.
Use npm when something breaks with pnpm, pnpm will never be 100% there
node-gyp needs python 2.7 somewhere in the environment
MSB error=> https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/#build-tools-for-visual-studio-2017 ; npm config set msvs_version 2017 --global
The builds tools for v140 (Platform Toolset = 'v140') cannot be found. To build using the v140 build tools, either click the Project menu or right-click the solution, and then select "Update VC++ Projects...". Install v140 to build using the v140 build tools.
Get python form official channels.
Disregard best practices, get 2.7 too even if you have to manually install. Make sure python link points to 3.x.
Read up again on the python package (virtualenv) that exposes different versions per project.

show hidden: Just adding the key to the global domain seems to work:
defaults write -g AppleShowAllFiles -bool true
You have to quit and reopen applications to apply changes as usual.

To start screensharing:
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.screensharing.plist
To stop:
sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.screensharing.plist
The -w flag modifies the Disabled key as appropriate. It's best to let launchctl handle this, as the location where the config files are stored has changed a bit between OS versions.
