Keyboard allows switching to different workspace in i3

During fullscreen-locking the keyboard is still functioning under i3.

It is possible to simply switch to another workspace. It is also possible to move the current window to the other workspace via keyboard, switch to that workspace and just continue working there.

I really love sane-break as it attempts to break my habit of putting in too few breaks. However, the keyboard workaround is now so automated in my brain that I regularly skip breaks.

Is it possible to just block keyboard input during break? Or: Display full-screen break on all workspaces?

After searching on Google, I found that i3 provides a command to mark a window as sticky: https://i3wm.org/docs/userguide.html#_sticky_floating_windows. However, I haven't found ways to do this programmatically.

It is possible to tell i3 to make sane-break floating and sticky with the following in ~/.config/i3/config:

for_window [instance="sane-break"] floating enable, sticky enable

There are still quite a few ways to trick this.

For example, I have:

bindsym $mod+Shift+space floating toggle

It is possible to hit this combination and the window below the sticky sane-break will pop up over it in floating state.

There will always be a way to hide the prompt window, especially for Linux users. The only problem is whether we can avoid the user hiding the window easily without conscious. In this case, I'm afraid the optimal config is up to the users and we can't do much about this, other than providing a recommended config.

In general, wouldn't it be a much better solution if sane-break were able to block all input (mouse and keyboard)?

It is possible to disallow moving sane-break to scratchpad as follows:

bindsym $mod+x [floating instance="^(?!sane-break).*$"] move scratchpad

Unfortunately I haven't found a solution for toggling floating windows. They will pop up over sane-break. I don't use it, so I just disabled it:

#bindsym $mod+Shift+space floating toggle

Sorry, I don't have much insight into how X and applications work together. So maybe blocking input isn't possible.
