A structured guide to learning AWS from scratch, organized by phase. Each phase builds on the previous one.
| Phase | Topics |
|---|---|
| Phase 1 — Foundation | IAM, Regions & AZs, CLI & SDKs |
| Phase 2 — Core Compute & Storage | EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC |
| Phase 3 — Databases | RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache |
| Phase 4 — Networking & Delivery | Route 53, CloudFront, ALB |
| Phase 5 — App Services & APIs | API Gateway, SQS, SNS, Cognito |
| Phase 6 — Containers & Deployment | ECS, ECR, CodePipeline |
| Phase 7 — Observability & Security | CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, WAF |
Start at Phase 1 and work through each folder in order. Every feature has its own README.md with concepts, CLI commands, and SDK code examples in JavaScript and Python.
Each phase builds on the previous one — VPC knowledge is needed before RDS, IAM is needed before everything.
- An AWS account (free tier is enough to start)
- AWS CLI v2 installed and configured
- Node.js 20+ or Python 3.11+
- Basic understanding of HTTP, databases, and backend development
