As the title says, rules with blank RegEx are ignored by Category Sunburst, Timeline (barchart), and Top Categories. However, they aren't ignored and show as intended in Top Applications or Top Window Titles.
This is a categorization consistency issue. Parent categories with blank regex patterns work correctly as catch-all containers in views that process the full category tree (Top Applications, Top Window Titles), but views that rely on the regex-based categorization query (Sunburst, Timeline barchart, Top Categories) skip entries with empty patterns.
The root cause is in how aw-transform's categorize function handles the category tree. When a category has no regex pattern, it should still collect uncategorized time from its children as a parent node. Views that build their own category tree handle this correctly, but views that use the flattened categorize output don't.
A fix would need to ensure that parent categories without regex patterns still appear in the categorized output, aggregating time from their sub-categories. This would likely be a change in aw_transform/classify.py (Python) and aw-transform/src/classify.rs (Rust).
