Describe the bug

Trying to build the download profile fails with Permission denied, even when running as root. Docker daemon is also running as root.

No proxy, VPN, firewall or other known network issues. Internet access is working normally on the box.

Hardware / Software

  • OS: Ubuntu
  • OS version: 22.04.5 LTS
  • Docker Version: 27.3.1
  • Docker compose version: v2.29.7
  • Repo version: from master
  • RAM: 128GB
  • GPU/VRAM: NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Clone repo from master
  2. Run docker compose --profile download up --build
  3. Build fails with "Permission denied" errors

    same issue here, but with temporary error not permission denied:

    Compose now can delegate build to bake for better performances
Just set COMPOSE_BAKE=true

    Same issue in year 2025 as well Docker version 28.4.0, build d8eb465
