FairBite DAO is a revolutionary decentralized food delivery platform built on Holochain, designed to return power and prosperity to local food ecosystems. We aim to create a fairer, more efficient, and resilient alternative to traditional, extractive centralized delivery services by directly connecting merchants, riders, and consumers.

Mission: FairBite DAO aims to dismantle the extractive model of centralized food delivery platforms by providing a decentralized, transparent, and fair alternative. Through collective governance, a minimal transaction fee, and innovative P2P technology, we empower merchants, riders, and consumers to directly connect, negotiate, and thrive, putting the community at the heart of every transaction.
Centralized food delivery platforms impose exorbitant commissions (20-30%+) on restaurants, dictate terms to riders, and ultimately increase costs for consumers. This model siphons wealth out of local communities and creates an unsustainable environment for the very businesses and individuals it claims to serve.
FairBite DAO offers a fundamentally different approach:
- Decentralized Ownership & Governance (DAO): Owned and governed by its token holders – comprising active participants (merchants, riders, consumers) and dedicated contributors.
- Fairer Economics: A minimal, fixed transaction fee (e.g., 5% of order value) goes directly into the DAO's treasury, funding the platform's operations and rewarding contributors, significantly reducing costs for merchants and increasing earnings for riders.
- Participant Empowerment: Merchants and riders directly set terms. Consumers receive transparent quotes to make informed choices.
- Transparent Trust & Reputation: An on-chain reputation system tracks behavior, incentivizing quality service and accountability.
- Automated Agreements: Core transaction logic is enshrined in smart contracts ("Zomes" in Holochain) for unbiased execution.
- Community-Driven Dispute Resolution: A decentralized system involving independent mediators and community voting handles complex disputes fairly.
FairBite DAO is built primarily on:
- Holochain: Our foundational Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) for building the decentralized application (hApp). Holochain's agent-centric architecture, scalability, and real-time P2P communication are key to our vision.
- Rust: For writing the core Holochain Zomes (smart contracts) and backend logic.
- Frontend Framework (TBD - e.g., React Native/Flutter): For cross-platform mobile applications (iOS/Android) for consumers, merchants, and riders.
- Identity: Participants create a secure, decentralized identity on the FairBite hApp.
- Order Broadcast: A consumer places an order, which is broadcast to relevant, nearby riders.
- Real-time Quotes: Riders (or their automated tools) send quotes (delivery fee, ETA, compensation promises) back to the consumer.
- Acceptance: The consumer compares quotes and accepts the preferred one.
- Smart Contract Lock: Funds and rider stake are locked in a smart contract.
- Delivery & Confirmation: Real-time updates via P2P messaging. Funds are released upon delivery confirmation.
- Reputation Update: Parties rate each other, updating on-chain reputation scores.
- Dispute Resolution (if needed): Handled by automated smart contracts for objective issues, or by independent mediators and community voting for subjective ones.
