I'm getting a couple errors related to macros already existing:

"gcode command SYNC_STARTUP already registered"

The "Toolchange" macro throws the same error. What might be the problem?

Thank you. I've updated DynamicMacros to attempt to resolve this error. Please run the following commands in SSH to update it:

cd ~/DynamicMacros
git pull
sh install.sh
sudo service klipper restart

If the error persists, please upload a new klippy.log as a file (not copy and paste). If it's too large to upload, you can compress it in a zip file.

Looking at the log, it looks like the first error is gone. I updated DynamicMacros to attempt to fix this new error as well. To install it, run in SSH:

cd ~/DynamicMacros
git pull
sh install.sh
sudo service klipper restart

I'm only getting "3ms unable to connect", which is because I don't have it connected yet. lol

Is the amount of retraction during a tool change adjustable beyond 200mm?

You can set your load_ and unload_distances as high as you want. However, if you want faster and slightly quieter toolchanges, you should increase your step_size 3MS setting to the highest of the two distances. If you run into Extrude move too long errors, you can set your printer's max_extrude_only_distance to your 3MS's step_size + 1.

Another generalized question: do you have any intention of incorporating a belay sensor?

I don't have a Belay sensor, but you should be able to configure one for the 3MS with:

On each toolchange, you can add this to your slicer's tool change G-code:

With HH, you can put the filament sensor almost anywhere (before extruder, after extruder, after Y-splitter, before or after each filament unit). See below:

It depends on your printer/toolhead. If you use a Stealthburner, you can use the Filametrix.

How would you set it up without a filament runout switch, and only using the extruder to unit to hotend distances? I know it's recommended to use one, but the happy hare docs says that it's possible to do without. The only problem is that there is no real documentation on how to do that.

Hi @CoreXYForge ,

As far as I'm aware, there's no way to use HH without a filament sensor. I've tried this on a dummy setup, and HH errored out after attempting load filament without a sensor to home to. I can reach out to the HH dev to see if it's possible and how feasible it is. I'd say your best bet is to find a good sensor for your printer, or use the universal Filatector.

I have decided on doing 2 things. Both of them involve me overcoming laziness haha.

1. Make my simplified 3MS (based on your MMU and another project) firmware actually work. It stores the config in only 2 files (one config, and one vars file), and uses distances alone. This makes it less reliable, but it simpler than happy hare.

2. Actually install my BLtouch so I can use the Z-endstop for filament detection. I am actually doing that right now.

Where do you suggest I put it? I plan on putting it behind the entrance to my extruder (Voron M4), but is there a better location? (like by the Y-adapter or after the exit)

You can put the sensor in one of three main locations:

• Before the extruder (extruder entry sensor)
• Between extruder and hotend (toolhead sensor)
• Right after the Y-splitter (gate sensor)

Trying to get this set up on my Qidi plus4.

During install, I never see step 4 of the quick start, "Running Installer" section where it tries to find the serial port.
After step 7, I get a few additional menus for filament cutter, and blobifier.

After install, I get an error on the printer HMI that the printer can't connect to the MMU.

When I try the "ls /dev/serial/by-id" command via putty, I get no such file or directory.
Klippy Log says:
"mcu 'mmu': Unable to open serial port: [Errno 2] could not open port /dev/serial/by-id/XXX: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/dev/serial/by-id/XXX'".

Also, all of my temp sensors are reading "0" now.

I would really appreciate any help figuring this out.

Thank you for uploading the log, config, and giving me the detailed info on your printer! Based off your config, it looks like the QIDI uses /dev/ttyS* instead of /dev/serial/by-id/* to find MCU's. Could you please try the below procedure and let me know how it works?

1. Unplug the SKR Pico
2. Run in SSH:

   ls /dev/tty*
   

3. Plug in the SKR Pico
4. Run in SSH:

   ls /dev/tty*
   

Does anything new show up after running the command a second time?

Installed the jumper with no change, but... no, I haven't flashed klipper. I didn't see that step.. I did expect to have to flash it with something, but didn't see an instruction for that, so assumed it came with something pre-installed. I'll do that after work and update. It seems very likely that's the issue.

When you get back, here's how to flash the SKR Pico:

1. Install Katapult and compile for the SKR Pico.
2. Compile Klipper for the SKR Pico. Use same menuconfig setup as previous screenshot.

   cd ~/klipper
   make menuconfig
   make
   

3. Install "USB Power" and "Boot" jumpers onto SKR.
4. Plug into printer.
5. Use the ls /dev/tty* procedure to locate the board.
6. Install Katapult & Klipper:

   cd ~/katapult/scripts
   sudo apt install python3-serial
   python3 flashtool.py -d /dev/<PATH FROM PREVIOUS STEP>
   

7. Unplug board after a few seconds.
8. Remove boot jumper
9. Re-plug board.
10. Repeat ls /dev/tty* procedure to locate the board again.

Let me know if that works!

As you can see, I do have mmu_vars in the mmu folder, as it was configured during install, so I'm guessing it's a filepath issue with the Qidi in the [save_variables] section of MMU_macro_vars.cfg?

I'm slightly confused by your config folder. When I opened the zip you uploaded, there's only one file under the mmu folder (mmu_vars.cfg).

My setup has several auto-generated (self-edited) files and folders under the mmu folder.

Is the .zip missing those files or are they really missing on your printer?

the zip is missing the files. That is weird. From Fluidd I went to the top level folder, selected everything, then right click to create a zip. it left out all of the subfolders. It looks like it did the same from the start. I'm a total noob in linux terminal, but I finally got smb working so I could zip it from windows explorer. this one seems accurate.

Thank you. Yes this has the mmu folder with all the subfolders in it. Looking at your config, could you try commenting out this section from your printer.cfg:

[save_variables] 
filename =/home/mks/printer_data/config/saved_variables.cfg

Sounds good. I do need to get back on discord. I've been away for several years.
I forgot to mention, I swapped back in the stock printer.cfg file and renamed the one I'm trying to get the mmu working on as MMU printer.cfg again.

Commenting that out, then renaming MMU printer.cfg to printer.cfg seems to have done the trick!

Before getting all excited, I should mention that the Elegoo CC does not run klipper, and its OS is not based on it. This is the reason I have not got one myself. You could do it if you were to replace the mainboard with one that can connect to a pi, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having a printer that is meant to "just work". Maybe you could a chameleon setup since it does not require anything like klipper, but the chameleon is quite finnicky in my experience.

Interestingly, the 3DChameleon is the reason I created the 3MS in the first place. I ended up creating an entire Klipper plugin (my first plugin, a little messy) 3dchameleon-klipper. Then hardware issues forced me to stop working on the 3DChameleon and think about designing my own MMU.

I thought the same, but I thought to double check. I am not giving up hope, because in june they will reveal their AMS. If they keep going on the "budget bambu" path, then I hope they will keep their AMS $150 or less. Seems like wishful thinking, but so was a $300 P1P clone at the time.

Yeah, Qidi has been promising their MMU for a while now that's supposed to work with the plus4, but A. I'd rather not wait, and B. I'm learning more about this stuff than I would from pure plug n play.

Please follow the instructions here to install the configuration I provided earlier. The configuration is a part of the mmu_hardware.cfg, called the gear section, as explained in that link.

You can delete all the [tmcxxx sections in your mmu_hardware.cfg since it doesn't use TMC drivers.

You will likely have to install mainline Klipper to your printer to use Happy Hare. I would try setting up OpenNept4une to get proper Klipper installed.
