Hey, I'm evaluating Gortex for our team's setup. We want to build the index in GitLab CI and deploy only the snapshot to a remote server, without the original source files on disk (to avoid cloning every repo onto the server).

Can the Gortex daemon serve queries (MCP tools like smart_context, search_symbols, get_symbol_source, etc.) purely from a pre-built snapshot (.gortex/ gob+gzip
files), with no source tree present?

If yes, what's the recommended workflow for CI → deploy snapshot → daemon hot-reload?

This method assumes having access to the source code.

Can you describe your idea? I might be able to propose a solution. In particular, I wonder why you'd like to avoid cloning the repo onto the server?
