The cursor is not displayed while moving in the Mate-terminal

When move the cursor, it becomes invisible. Changing themes doesn't help. Only if make the background transparent - the cursor is visible.

Sounds like an issue with your terminal emulator, or perhaps with one of your other plugins. Does it reproduce in xterm(1) under `zsh -f` + `source /path/to/zsh-syntax-highlighting.zsh`?
