A problem that started recently
Before that there was support for 4k hdr and dolby digital

It is probably related with recent changes that YouTube made to kill third party clients like SmartTube. I think they are actively working on finding a solution.

I'm new to this, how do we know if Yuliskov knows about 4k playback being removed, does Y give updates on things like that?

The latest release says it includes a temporary fix for the issue but only up to 1080p. So, in other words, they are aware of the problem and actively trying to come up with a solution.

The latest 22.43 beta release, from two hours ago, works both for vp9 and 4k for me. I also haven't seen any 403 errors.
