i know a lot of users have raised this issue but I'm here to emphasize it , video playback is just unbearable the buffering issue just drives you mad. are you ever going to do something about it !!
i have downloaded both stable and betta both have the same problem . i know it's not my internet connection or my streaming device issue .

I found the last issue tickets were within the last month and only a few. My guess is with the small bit of traction my thread is receiving it is something new or more apparent than before.
The users before thought it was something just being ignored. Hopefully not. If so I guess we would need more issue tickets created to get the attention needed.
-Same issue happened to me last night. I have the exact same model of Android tv box in my room and is currently working per norm. (although it is running latest beta. The stuttering box is stable build) That leads me to believe that it is hitting something in videos causing the snag in the system. Only a matter of time before it happens there as well. Will use it more tonight when I have free time and report back.

I'm using the latest stable version pf STN on a MiBox and having the same problem, just switched today from the old Smart YouTube TV and getting back to it because the buffering isn't present there, even on 1080p flawless, buffers like butter, but ads aren't blocked anymore since yesterday unfortunately. Oh well....

Same problem here over the past few hours. Buffers endlessly unless I switch to 480p.

Same problem, 400Mbps ethernet connection and buffers terribly at 1080p 30fps vp9. 720 seems usable, but still buffers unless I drop it to 480p. Tried updating, clearing cache/data, and reinstalling with no luck. Nvidia Shield pro.

Same issue here on the latest beta. At first I thought it was YouTube being down, but quickly saw I was able to play videos on my phone, then I tried the normal YouTube app on the tv and it worked fine. I’m guessing some sort of memory leak or something?

Can confirm. 480p works. Everything above not usable.

Same issue for me since today. Can only watch videos on 480p even though internet link is 50M (tested on the device). However I have no issues whatsoever when I logout or watch videos in guest mode. After logging out I'm able to watch 4k videos without any buffering issue at all.
Device is shield tube 2019

Same issue for me, buffering on videos above 480p. It was working fine yesterday.

I'll add my voice to the issue, nothing but buffering. Same videos play fine on the native YT app.

Pilling on. same issues outlined above, 480p and below works, regardless of codec chosen.
NVidia Shield is the platform.

I suspect that YouTube has throttled something for external api users.

Log out and it works fine. Only when logged in to an account that it throttles.

For what it's worth, I found if you log out and browse without your account it works fine.

Started buffering badly here too using an android box, it was working great until a few hours ago.

Edit: confirmed it works perfectly when not logged in for some reason.

I'm also having this issue as of today's update on Fire TV 7.

However, the YouTube website is also giving me a hard time today with various things not working or very finicky, like the sidebar not appearing or the sidebar sending me to the wrong places (for example, clicking Watch Later sends me to YouTube Studio half of the time). Normally I don't have those issues. So I wonder if this is a more general issue rather than a "let's throttle STN" issue.

Edit: and now I clicked to go back a page, but it opened a random video from my Watch Later list even though autoplay is turned off. So yeah, with this and what I mentioned above, I think it's safe to say that it's definitely YouTube itself having issues rather than just STN.

Same issue. Apparently using a youtube account makes the buffer go to hell

I’m actually have some issues with regular youtube buffering on my phone, so might not be a throttling issue

I have the same problem
My solution for now is to connect your smartphone via TV code and stream the videos from the smartphone to smarttube

Having the same issue here, on my Nvidia shield pro. Can’t be a coincidence that everyone here is having the same issue at the same time. Buffering like crazy move on the stable version and the beta. Literally unwatchable

@ZandigSlaytanic

Same buffering issue here on the Nvidia Shield.
I noticed this morning my Android Phone got another Youtube update, so they changed something once again.
It must be maddening for the devs of STN trying to keep up with the constant changes.

@Justify87

Probably some API change. Or a push against alternative YouTube clients by Google

Same here. App is basically unusable now... I tried the official YouTube app and other streaming apps and they all work just fine.
Sony Android TV here.

@borislip

Same here, started today. This isn't a regression in the latest beta, i happened to have 15.58 laying around and it happens on it as well. Feels like it limits the stream to approximately 1mbps, making anything higher than 480p unusable. This isn't my connection either, stock client works fine, also tried with different networks I've happened to have available, and over commerical VPN (stock client streams fine, at high res, with all of those). Happens on 2 separate device (Google CCwGTV and Sony KDL-65W850C). Hoping for a fix.

Same here. Nvidia Shield TV. Not even 480p plays smoothly.

@JamesDude100

Since even 480p barely works. I think the best alternative is to just sign out of your account, it helps for sure

Strange issue for me on an Android box, the latest stable update crashes "smart tube stopped responding" before any video tries to play, but the update on the beta version works great! just me I take it? lol

Edit: also tried deleting/re-installing.
