20190227研究生英语能力提升

弄清楚自己的注册班 每周到一次即可，随意时间的课 第五周开始抽期末考试题目，回原班抽题

平时成绩计算法 30分

  • 前六周签到，到课率2*6
  • 课堂表现：组内讨论（每节课都有 规则下节课讲） / PPT演讲练习 每人至少5分钟（非必须，老师说一般很少人做，要做演讲提前和老师说） 3*6
  • 允许事假4次以下，但没有分，若4次不上课则平时分为0

面试成绩 70分

  • 5分钟PPT演讲，题目在第5-6周抽取
  • 考试的课全体学生都要来，迟到半小时之内不扣分，否则扣2分
  • PPT页面内容10分
  • 演讲水平30分
  • 自由问答30分

上课时间：上午是8:30-11:00 下午是13:30-16:00

pitfalls in exams

1 title page

Mistakes in the topic: capitalization Name and school Date format

  • wrong title will make you misunderstood
  • pay attention to spellings

2 spelling mistakes & grammatical mistakes

  • The structure of the points is not consistent For example: metal pollution / mental pollution Spelling mistakes influence your text quality

You cannot use adverbs to modify nouns Translation softwares don’t always help (Baidu / Youdao)

3 reading paper or reading screen

  • the oral part is exactly the same as the written part

  • avoid screen reading

  • detail screen contents using oral abilities

  • not familiar with oral part - collaboration

4 presentation

  • document-making is not encouraged(一段话中挑几句来读，不行)

5 Content

  • don‘t make your PPT not to the point(chaotic logic) or not well focused

For example：拿到题目“中国高铁走向全球”，别把重点放在“中国高铁发展得多好”上，重点是overseas market

6 question handling

  • 6.1 You don’t know how to solve the problem (even if you know the answer)

Try to catch full question(complete question)

“I beg your pardon?” - is not good

When a question is being asked, background information is provided, you can first tell the part that you have the most confidence that is right 说最有把握的点

  • 6.2 how to solve when you don’t know the answer?

“Sorry, I don’t know” - is not enough

You should tell further, tell the interviewer why you don’t have the answer. Put yourself into an active position instead of passive position

不要猜题，如果问到的刚好是你的知识盲区，可以把话题引到自己知道和擅长的方面，在问答中占据主动

以“中国高铁走向全球”为例，问：中国高铁与别国竞争现状，答：我不太清楚与这个国家的竞争关系，但我可以告诉你与另一个国家的竞争与合作关系，显示出中国高铁的海外市场广阔，在海外取得了成功

  • 6.3 how to handle opinion disagreement？

“Sorry, I cannot agree with you”

Don’t say others are wrong, you can say “I need you to give me more evidence to support your view”

问答应该由你来控制，而不是提问人控制

avoid brief answers 避免冷场

Conclusion

Not well prepared(either ppt or oral presentation) Too many mistakes Topic not well focused Communication problems(第五周会给checking list), pay attention to listening
