This is a step-by-step guide to setup Mouse Dictionary.

Install extension

Download it!

Prepare English-Japanese data

Right-click the Mouse Dictionary icon, click "Options" and open the settings screen.

If this is the first time for you, you'll be asked this.

Click OK and create initial dictionary data. This dictionary is "ejdic-hand", which is public domain great English-Japanese data.

Creating dictionary data has successfully installed if you see this screen.


Open a web page you like, and click this extension's icon.

Now you can experience the world's fastest dictionary tool!

Import free Japanese-English data

If you want to use Mouse Dictionary in order to read web pages in Japanese, you need to import Japanese-English data.

Get ja_en_utf8.tsv from here.

And, import it from the options screen.

Choose options like this:

Option Value
Character set of dictionary data UTF-8
Format of dictionary data TSV
Choose file ja_en_utf8.tsv

And click the "LOAD" button.

Now Japanese-English is ready!
