Uninstalling v1.0.x

Update: These instructions are for uninstalling v1.0.x of the program. If you would like to uninstall a newer version of the program, see the uninstall instructions here.

Due to the project being renamed early on in the project's history, it's necessary to uninstall v1.0.x of the source code before installing the latest version. This is a one-time event for those that downloaded the original project files (there were approximately 30 downloads). The latest code can be updated in the future with Git using instructions in the Installation Guide. To remove the old v1.0.x files:

 
Remove the soft link to the geoip-nft.sh script in /usr/sbin

sudo rm /usr/sbin/geoip-nft

Stop the geoip-update.timer

sudo systemctl stop geoip-update.timer

Disable the geoip-update.timer

sudo systemctl disable geoip-update.timer

List all systemd timers to verify the geoip-update.timer has been removed.

sudo systemctl list-timers --all

Stop the geoip-update.service

sudo systemctl stop geoip-update.service

Disable the geoip-update.service

sudo systemctl disable geoip-update.service

Back up any customized files that you created in the /etc/nftables/geoip directory (such as refill-sets.nft) to a safe place.

Remove the old /etc/nftables/geoip directory and it's contents.

sudo rm -R /etc/nftables/geoip

Remove the old /etc/geoip-nft.conf file.

sudo rm /etc/geoip-nft.conf

Remove the old /etc/geoip-nft-error.log file if it exists.

sudo rm /etc/geoip-nft-error.log
