Describe the bug
Web fonts fail to load on a clean install of Vista SP2 after installing KB2117917 or KB4012583. Issue can be sidestepped by forcing GDI over DirectWrite.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install KB2117917 or KB4012583 on Vista SP2
  2. Go to any webpage on Supermium with web fonts (ex. arstechnica.com)
  3. Open F12 console
  4. Observe "Failed to decode downloaded font" error in console

Expected behavior
Web fonts load properly with updates installed and without forcing GDI.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Windows Vista SP2 x64
  • Supermium 122.0.6261.152 x64

... This is a long-standing, already known, issue with DW under Vista SP2 😉 ; see, for example, #143 ;

Sm-bug

The maintainer is currently working on a fix, but the whole task is a difficult one, especially with DW on Win <= 7 SP1; more here ...

Please upgrade to the latest Supermium release, v124-r2; also, if not yet installed, please install KB2999226 (Windows 10 universal C Runtime, for Windows Vista/Server 2008 SP2); then, your original issue would be FIXED!
