Can wagmi facilitate decentralization of WalletConnect?

WalletConnect is used by our industry to connect wallets to pages.

The industry needs a standard, open, decentralized protocol to do this. But, WalletConnect is extremely centralized.

Perhaps the wagmi lib and team may help decentralized WalletConnect by

1. making it easy to provide your own WalletConnect server when creating a connector
2. updating the WalletConnect connector API to make an API key optional because afaik, right now it's effectively hardcoded to the WalletConnect centralized server
3. inviting a cottage industry of WalletConnect server providers to pop-up. I should be able to run my app's WalletConnect through Alchemy, Infura, and more.
