URL: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/datalist

Browser / Version: Safari 17.6.1
Operating System: iOS 17.6.1
Tested Another Browser: Yes Safari

Problem type: Something else
Description: datalist doesn't work on iOS Safari
Steps to Reproduce:
On iOS Safari, a textual type input field that uses a datalist element is shown with a small arrow to display the menu. This arrow, when clicked, shows the available items in a menu (this seems to work as expected). But when you type in the field no menu is shown, instead the items are displayed on a line above the keyboard. You can select an item but nothing happens. The item list above the keyboard disappears, the input remains empty, and no event is triggered.

Hi @karlcow. Quick update on our triage process:

  • We will focus our efforts on Firefox issues, non-firefox issues will be left untriaged, that is the reason why I am needsinfo-ing you on Safari issues. We will do so from now on

Hope you are well. Sending you lots of positive thoughts

@softvision-raul-bucata Thank you The Safari team pointed me to webcompat which, I see now, wasn't directed to the right place. Sorry for the confusion.

@joshcrain No worries whatsoever, Karl (part of the Safari team) will take it from here. Our project involves many people from different browser vendors, and our goal is to get everyone on board for this project

@joshcrain you are at the right place. Just a change of process. The Mozilla team until has very graciously handled the triage process of Safari and Chrome issues.

I will check myself.

Thanks a lot @softvision-raul-bucata for all the love and care all these years ❤️
